Clear answers before the vehicle comes in.
Spring work often depends on what we find at the vehicle. These answers explain how we start, what information helps and when it is better to call first.
Call (204) 943-0791Can one broken leaf be replaced?
In some spring packs, the broken leaf can be replaced with a correctly matched repair leaf. We inspect the remaining leaves and mounting hardware before recommending a repair leaf, rebuild or complete pack.
Can you add spring support to my truck?
An add-a-leaf or heavier spring pack may be suitable after we understand the normal load and vehicle configuration. Adding spring support does not increase the vehicle's manufacturer-assigned Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWRs).
Do you make custom U-bolts?
Yes. We prepare custom U-bolts and related spring hardware for many spring and axle applications. Measurements help with a parts request; have clear photos ready if staff asks for them. We confirm fit during installation work.
Do you repair Air Ride and air suspension systems?
Yes. We diagnose and repair suitable light and medium duty Air Ride and air suspension systems. For heavy duty air suspension applications, Standard supplies parts only.
Do you work on classic or unusual vehicles?
Yes. Older vehicles and uncommon applications often need careful measurement, rebuilding or custom spring work. Share the year, make and model, and have a few clear photos ready if staff asks for them.
How long does a spring repair take?
It depends on the repair, the condition of the hardware and parts availability. Some work can be completed within a day while custom or heavily corroded jobs may need more time. A person confirms the appointment and expected timing after reviewing the request.
Should I drive with a visibly broken leaf?
A broken leaf can move, affect ride height or damage nearby parts. If the vehicle is leaning, metal is close to a tire or the spring has shifted, stop and call the shop before driving it further.
What information should I send with a quote request?
Share the year, make, model, vehicle type and a short description of the concern. Add a unit number when applicable. Have clear photos of the spring, mounting area and vehicle stance ready; staff will tell you how to share them if needed. The optional VIN identifier can suggest vehicle details for you to confirm; the VIN is not added to the staff request, and a licence plate number is not needed.
Is an online appointment instantly confirmed?
No. It is a request. A person reviews the service, vehicle and preferred time before confirming the appointment or asking for more information.
Do you sell spring parts without installation?
Yes. We accept requests for repair leaves, complete spring packs and kits, custom U-bolts, bushings, shackles, hangers and related spring hardware. Fitment and availability are confirmed for each application.
What helps with a parts request?
Share the year, make, model and vehicle type, plus the part position and quantity. Add a VIN, part number and measurements when available. Have clear photos ready if staff asks for them. A licence plate number is not needed.
Can I get an instant spring repair price?
A useful estimate depends on the vehicle, spring condition, repair path and related hardware. Photos shared through a staff-approved channel can help us prepare, but physical inspection may still be needed before final scope and pricing are confirmed.
Will an add-a-leaf increase my truck's legal weight rating?
No. Adding a leaf or installing a heavier spring pack does not increase the vehicle's manufacturer-assigned Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWRs). The vehicle must still be operated within every published and legal limit.
Do you handle wheel alignments and safety inspections?
Standard Spring accepts suitable light vehicle alignment, approved MPI mechanical repair and Manitoba Light Vehicle Inspection work described on our MPI pages. Broader alignment, inspection or general repair requests may be routed to the appropriate Standard Auto Works team.
