Inside the repair process

Mechanical claim work in our Winnipeg shop.

These photographs show vehicles and exposed mechanical components during real shop work. MPI still decides claim coverage and repair authorization.

Mechanical repair begins with the approved scope.

Vehicle details, claim direction and the visible concern guide the first inspection.

Steering, suspension and wheel position are checked together.

Exposed components help the technician document damage and confirm what needs approval.

The customer pathway

How an MPI mechanical claim repair reaches our shop.

The claim must start with MPI. Once the repair pathway is confirmed, Standard can work with the customer, MPI staff or the body shop handling the collision repair.

  1. 01

    Open the claim with MPI

Report the incident to MPI and receive a claim number and instructions. Standard does not open collision or pothole claims for customers.

  2. 02

    Receive repair direction

MPI determines coverage and the estimate or approval process that applies to the claim.

  3. 03

Choose Standard or arrange the sublet

Ask to use Standard for the approved mechanical work, or have the collision repair shop coordinate the vehicle handoff.

  4. 04

    We document and repair

We confirm the scope, provide required measurements or supplements and complete the authorized mechanical repair.

Repair capacity

From passenger vehicles to specialized fleets.

We accept a wider mechanical repair range than our light vehicle alignment equipment. Tell us the vehicle class and assigned scope before arranging transport.

Can Standard open or approve my MPI claim?

No. Open the claim directly with Manitoba Public Insurance. MPI decides coverage, fault, deductibles, estimates and repair approval. Standard completes the assigned mechanical work after the correct claim process is in place.

Can I choose Standard for an MPI mechanical repair?

For an eligible claim, tell MPI or your collision repair shop that you want Standard Auto Spring Works to complete the suspension, steering, axle or alignment portion. The vehicle may come directly to us or arrive as a body shop sublet, depending on MPI's repair direction.

Can pothole or curb damage be repaired through an MPI claim?

Standard repairs this type of mechanical damage, but MPI decides whether a specific incident is covered. Open the claim first, describe what happened accurately and follow MPI's instructions before authorizing claim repairs.

Does Standard advertise Direct Repair estimating?

No Direct Repair status is claimed on this site. Customers should open their claim with MPI and follow the estimate and repair direction MPI provides for that claim.

Does a Manitoba COI guarantee the whole vehicle?

No. A Certificate of Inspection confirms that the vehicle met Manitoba's minimum safety standards at the time of inspection. It is not a warranty and does not include a detailed assessment of the engine or transmission.
