MPI-listed LVI inspection station

Manitoba Light Vehicle Safety Inspections

Standard Auto Spring Works is listed by MPI as a Manitoba Light Vehicle Inspection station for Certificate of Inspection services. A COI confirms that a vehicle met Manitoba's minimum safety standards at the time of inspection. It is not a warranty or a complete mechanical condition report.

01

When it is required

Common reasons you need a COI

MPI lists exemptions and special cases, so check the current requirements if you are unsure.

01

Transfer of ownership

A valid COI is generally required when ownership of a used vehicle transfers in Manitoba, subject to listed exemptions.

02

A vehicle entering Manitoba

Vehicles brought into Manitoba, including vehicles owned by people moving to the province, generally require a valid COI.

03

Registration after inspection

A COI for transfer of ownership is valid for one year, although vehicle condition can change during that period.

Pass, advisement or fail

01

Pass

The vehicle meets the minimum safety standards and receives a COI.

02

Advisement

The vehicle meets the minimum standards, receives a COI and lists components likely to need service soon.

03

Fail

The listed defects must be repaired and the vehicle must pass reinspection before a COI can be issued.

Before you arrive

Bring the vehicle information and allow time for a proper inspection.

A COI is a regulated safety inspection, not a quick visual check. Call the shop to confirm appointment timing, vehicle class and what documents should come with the vehicle.

Authorization and official rules

Keep the repair source and insurance source clear.
