We ask only for information that helps us understand and respond to a service or parts request. We do not sell customer information and we do not use a service request as marketing consent.
Who is responsible
Standard Auto Spring Works (1990) Ltd., operating as Standard Auto Spring Works, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. The Privacy Officer can be reached at info@standardspring.ca, by calling (204) 943-0791, or by mail at 313 Princess Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 1M5.
Information you choose to send
A quote, appointment or parts request may include your name, phone number, email address, preferred response method, customer type, vehicle year, make, model and type, unit number, part details, measurements and a description of the concern. The current website form does not accept photographs or ask for a licence plate number. A VIN entered in the separate identification tool is not included in the online request sent for staff review.
Technical and security information
The hosting and security services may process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, including an IP address, browser and device information, request time, security signals and error information. Automated submission protection may process device and network signals to distinguish a person from abusive traffic.
Why we use the information
- To understand and respond to your question, quote, appointment or parts request
- To identify the correct Standard Auto Works team
- To assess fitment, spring condition, parts requirements and preferred timing
- To prepare an estimate, appointment, repair order or parts order when the request proceeds
- To protect the website, prevent abuse, keep appropriate records and meet legal obligations
Where a request goes
Online request delivery is not active on the current website. Before activation, the website will be configured to send requests for staff review without storing them in a public website database. If a request becomes shop work, information needed to manage the customer, vehicle, appointment, repair, parts or invoice may be added to the business systems used for that work.
Service providers and processing outside Canada
We use service providers for hosting, security, email, file storage, calendars and shop management. The optional VIN identification tool also uses the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vPIC service. Depending on the provider and its infrastructure, information may be processed or stored outside Manitoba or Canada and may be subject to the laws of that location. We limit access to people and providers who need the information for the purposes described here.
Optional VIN identification and recall information
If you choose to use the VIN identification tool, the 17-character VIN is sent over an encrypted connection to our website and then to the NHTSA vPIC service in the United States. It is used transiently to return a possible year, make, model, vehicle type and body class for you to review. Our server-side lookup does not put that VIN in the page address, analytics or the online request sent for staff review, and it does not store the VIN after returning the lookup response.
The Canadian recall indicator uses only the year, make and model that you confirm. It does not send the VIN for recall matching. A grouped year, make and model match cannot establish whether a particular vehicle is affected or whether a recall repair has already been completed. Confirm recall information with Transport Canada, the vehicle manufacturer or an authorized dealer.
Integrated eMESURE U-bolt measurement tool
The U-Bolt Measurement tool is enhanced with technology provided and owned by eMESURE. Measurements are sent over an encrypted connection to this website only when you choose to create a review record or PDF. They are processed transiently and are not stored in a website database. Downloading a PDF creates a file on your device. Print uses your browser's print controls.
Email actions open your own email application with a prepared measurement summary. Nothing is sent automatically. If you choose to send the message to Standard Parts, it becomes a normal business email record used to review the measurements and contact you. The website does not send an email to an arbitrary address or store the measurement sheet for later retrieval.
Photos and vehicle information
If a staff member later asks for a photograph through an appropriate service channel, send only images that help explain the spring, part or vehicle concern. Avoid including people, unrelated documents, keys, payment information, a VIN or other personal information. Confirmed vehicle details can help us prepare, but they do not establish parts fitment.
Consent and communication choices
The required form consent allows us to use the submitted information to respond to the request. It does not subscribe you to promotional messages. Any future marketing choice will be separate, optional and unchecked. You may withdraw consent for future optional uses, subject to legal and record keeping requirements.
Safeguards
Before online intake is activated, its access controls, account security, encrypted connections, server side validation, abuse protection, service providers and incident process will be verified. No website or transmission can honestly be guaranteed perfectly secure.
Retention and deletion
Information should be kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry, service, parts, accounting, warranty, legal and normal business record requirements. The business will confirm and document its retention and deletion schedule before online intake is activated.
Access, correction and complaints
You may ask about personal information we hold about you, request correction, ask about deletion where applicable, withdraw optional consent or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing a record. Start at Privacy Choices. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies and similar technology
The current site does not use advertising cookies or analytics tags. Essential hosting and security technology may still be used to deliver the site and protect forms. See the Cookie Notice.
Changes to this notice
We will update the date and content of this notice when our website, service providers or information practices materially change.
