We ask only for information that helps us understand and respond to a service or parts request. We do not sell customer information and we do not use a service request as marketing consent.
Who is responsible
Standard Auto Spring Works (1990) Ltd., operating as Standard Auto Spring Works, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. The Privacy Officer can be reached at info@standardaw.com, by calling (204) 943-0791, or by mail at 313 Princess Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 1M5.
Information you choose to send
A service request includes whether you are requesting a quote or appointment, the selected service, your first and last name, phone number, email address, confirmed vehicle year, make, model and type, an optional unit number, a short description of the concern and your consent choice. The website also adds a random request identifier and submission time to identify and protect the submission. The form does not accept photographs, payment information or the VIN. If you use the VIN lookup, only the vehicle details you accept are included in the service request.
Technical and security information
Hosting and security services may process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, including an IP address, browser and device information, request time, security signals and error information. When protected online delivery is active, the request form loads Cloudflare Turnstile directly from Cloudflare. Turnstile processes a verification token and device or network signals, and our server provides the connecting IP when verifying the token. The website may also use the connecting IP temporarily to enforce vehicle lookup and measurement request limits. These signals are used for security and abuse prevention, not advertising.
Google Analytics and consent
Standard Spring uses Google Analytics 4 measurement ID G-Q77CKC6088 to understand page visits and whether visitors select the service request, phone or email contact routes. The implementation does not intentionally send form answers, VINs, phone numbers, email addresses, vehicle details or service descriptions to Analytics.
Analytics storage begins denied. If you allow Analytics, the site updates that choice to granted in this browser. Advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalization remain denied. With Analytics storage denied, Google's tag may receive limited, cookieless measurement signals. Details and a control for changing your choice are available in the Cookie Notice and Privacy Choices.
Winnipeg weather
The homepage weather panel uses a Standard Spring server connection to retrieve downtown Winnipeg conditions and official alerts from Environment and Climate Change Canada. Your browser does not contact the weather provider, request your location or set a weather cookie. Provider and licence details are available in the Legal Centre.
Street map and directions
The Contact page loads OpenStreetMap tiles when the street map comes into view. Browsers that report a reduced-data preference show a button to load the map instead. Tile requests send normal network information, including your IP address, browser information and this website’s origin, to the tile service. Standard does not request your device’s precise location or provide a starting address. Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze open as external services only when you follow their links, and manage navigation and location permissions under their own policies. Where a request goes
When online delivery is available, the website sends the completed request over an encrypted connection to a protected intake receiver authorized to deliver it to info@standardaw.com. The recipient is fixed by the server and cannot be changed in the browser. The standardspring.ca application does not write the request to its own database. The intake receiver, business email system and any shop system used if the request proceeds may retain the information as a normal business record.
If online delivery is unavailable, the final button prepares an email containing the same request details and opens it in your email application. Nothing is sent until you review the message and choose Send. Your email service then handles the message under its own privacy practices.
Service providers and processing outside Canada
We use service providers for hosting, security, email, file storage, calendars and shop management. The optional VIN identification tool also uses the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vPIC service. Depending on the provider and its infrastructure, information may be processed or stored outside Manitoba or Canada and may be subject to the laws of that location. We limit access to people and providers who need the information for the purposes described here.
Optional VIN identification and recall information
If you choose the VIN identification tool, the 17 character VIN is sent over an encrypted connection to our website and then to the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vPIC service. Standard's server uses the VIN transiently to return a possible year, make, model, vehicle type and body class. It does not put the VIN in the page address, analytics, service request, email draft or browser storage, and Standard's application does not retain it after returning the response. NHTSA operates vPIC and handles its service records under its own government service practices.
The Canadian recall indicator uses only the year, make and model that you confirm. It does not send the VIN for recall matching. A grouped year, make and model match cannot establish whether a particular vehicle is affected or whether a recall repair has already been completed. Confirm recall information with Transport Canada, the vehicle manufacturer or an authorized dealer.
Integrated eMESURE U-bolt measurement tool
The integrated U-Bolt Measurement tool may process the selected shape and measurement source, dimensions, thread choices, quantity, application and profile information, confirmed vehicle year, make, model and position, request intent, name, phone number, email address, notes and measurement confirmations. This information is sent over an encrypted connection to standardspring.ca only when you choose to create a review record or PDF. It is processed transiently and is not written to a website database. The current tool does not send the record to eMESURE or an eMESURE service.
A downloaded PDF contains the measurement record and any contact or vehicle details you entered and creates a file on your device. Print uses your browser and operating system print controls. Copy Summary writes the record to your device clipboard. Email actions prepare the full summary in your email application. Nothing is sent automatically. If you send it to Standard Parts, it becomes a normal business email record used to review the measurements and contact you.
Photos and vehicle information
If a staff member later asks for a photograph through an appropriate service channel, send only images that help explain the spring, part or vehicle concern. Avoid including people, unrelated documents, keys, payment information, a VIN or other personal information. Confirmed vehicle details can help us prepare, but they do not establish parts fitment.
Consent and communication choices
The required form consent allows us to use the submitted information to respond to the request. It does not subscribe you to promotional messages. Any future marketing choice will be separate, optional and unchecked. You may withdraw consent for future optional uses, subject to legal and record keeping requirements.
Safeguards
We use encrypted connections, server validation, automated submission checks, hidden spam fields, request limits and a protected delivery connection. No website or transmission can be guaranteed perfectly secure.
Security incidents
We assess a security incident involving personal information and take steps to limit harm. Where applicable law requires it, we report the incident, notify affected people and keep the required breach record.
Retention and deletion
Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry, service, parts, accounting, warranty, legal and normal business record requirements. When information is no longer required, it is deleted, destroyed or made anonymous as appropriate.
Access, correction and complaints
You may ask about personal information we hold about you, request correction, ask about deletion where applicable, withdraw optional consent or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing a record. Start at Privacy Choices. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies and similar technology
The site uses optional Google Analytics under the choice described above. Advertising storage remains denied. Essential hosting and security technology may still be used to deliver the site and protect forms. See the Cookie Notice.
